Menopause Relief Through the Power of Prayer | Hormonal Healing through Prayer

(00:00)
Dr. Tabatha: When we pray, we start releasing healing hormones in our brain and throughout our body. And they send messengers to our cell and our cells start to heal.

(00:15)
Dr. Tabatha: Welcome back to the Fast to Faith podcast. It's going to be another awesome week because we are going to celebrate midlife. We are going to talk about how empowering and transformative the menopausal transition can be.

(00:32)
Dr. Tabatha: Right now in the media, it's all, oh, woe is me. Oh, it's going to be miserable. You should be deathly afraid to go through perimenopause and menopause and like everything is just painting a gloom picture.

(00:47)
Dr. Tabatha: A very sad picture of an aging midlife woman who is changing physically, who's gaining weight, who's no longer sleeping, who has no energy. And you might be feeling some of those things, but that is not your destiny. That's not your future. I promise you, your best days lie ahead. God promises that. And God is a trustworthy God.

(01:13)
Dr. Tabatha: He is a faithful God. He always comes through.

(01:16)
Dr. Tabatha: So let's figure out how to partner with God and hold him to those promises of yeah, our best days are ahead. How do we make that happen? What does that look like?

(01:28)
Dr. Tabatha: And I've been pondering this question a lot of like, why do we even have to go through menopause? Why do our ovaries stop ovulating? Why do our hormones stop being produced in such high levels and God gave me the answer.

(01:45)
Dr. Tabatha: He was like, when you were in your reproductive phase with those high hormones and the revelation and all of that, that was you having babies, creating a family, focusing on your children and your husband, and doing all of that stuff.

(02:03)
Dr. Tabatha: You were just your focus was on helping everyone in your circle. You were the caregiver, the giver of life. And now you're winding down. You're going to be done with that to a certain extent, because your focus can now be on me, says God. Your focus is like, let's get to the mission I've sent you here on this earth to do in this second phase of your life.

(02:30)
Dr. Tabatha: And it's no longer to care for other people necessarily. First and foremost is to focus on me and glorify me and further my kingdom. That's what God was saying to me. So I find that really powerful and exciting that he's got new plans for me and a whole new future.

(02:48)
Dr. Tabatha: So, you know, I turned 50 this year. And he said to me, the first 49, that was all prep work that was necessary to turn you into the woman you are now, but we're just getting going.

(03:01)
Dr. Tabatha: So buckle in like the next 50 are going to be amazing. And he made it clear that I really needed to focus on self-care and pour into myself and love myself because he's going to be stepping me into this next phase of my life where I am going to focus on him, and that's going to require me to be super healthy and have a clear, sharp mind and lots of energy and passion.

(03:30)
Dr. Tabatha: And so I am just excited about this menopausal transition. This is not a bad thing. I'm done growing babies in my belly and breastfeeding and raising children. I guess I'm not ever done raising children, right? That's a lifelong thing. But there's a different level. I've been able to cut the cord. I'm turning them into independent human beings.

(03:55)
Dr. Tabatha: That's the whole point of being a parent, is to create a human being that can go on and be sustained without you. You know you are a successful parent when they can function without you.

(04:11)
Dr. Tabatha: So I'm finally, finally starting to see those days ahead. And now God is setting my sight on new things.

(04:19)
Dr. Tabatha: So what does this have to do with all the struggles that you're going through right now? Well, I will tell you, I was reading Ephesians and this hit me like a ton of bricks and I knew I had to share it with you.

(05:15)
Dr. Tabatha: We want to eat the donut even though it's going to make us feel like garbage. We want to eat the gluten even though the doctor told us it's making us sick, like we have this sinful side that wants to give in to our flesh because it feels good in the moment, because it comforts us, it consoles us, it distracts us, it numbs us.

(05:46)
Dr. Tabatha: We want to drink too much, to forget about our problems. We want to have sex to pretend that our broken relationship isn't as bad as it seems. Whatever the fleshly desire is, it's literally this struggle that is actually going on spiritually and you're trying to control it physically. So our struggle is not against our flesh and blood.

(06:00)
Dr. Tabatha: It's not against the people in our lives. When you're having those fights, it's against our spirits. And so you have a spirit that wants a certain thing, and you need to work against the negative spirit and work toward the Holy Spirit. Because if you are a Christian, you have been saved.

(06:34)
Dr. Tabatha: Jesus did not die just to save you in eternity. He died to save you on earth, on earth as it is in heaven. He wants to give you freedom now. He wants to give you a life now, not just after you die in eternity. He suffered so that you could enjoy this life, to get free from your fleshly desires.

(07:01)
Dr. Tabatha: I promise you, it's not just the big things Jesus cares about — not just a cancer diagnosis or a loved one who lost their job or all the big stuff that feels so heavy. He also cares about you all day long, and your daily little choices and your little secret struggles of like, why can't I break up with sugar? Why can't I get my butt to the gym?

(07:30)
Dr. Tabatha: Those are spiritual struggles that you're having. And he says, hand it over to me. Just hand it over and let me carry that burden for you.

(07:41)
Dr. Tabatha: So when you start to partner with Jesus in your everyday life, everything shifts. You start to release that weight permanently for good. You start to release the shame and the blame that goes with starting and stopping an exercise routine, reaching for that glass of wine every night.

(08:02)
Dr. Tabatha: And lo and behold, when you get your spiritual alignment with what the Holy Spirit is calling you to do and asking you to live like, everything in your physical body starts to shift.

(08:15)
Dr. Tabatha: So the Bible says with prayer and supplication, ask and ye shall receive, and with thanksgiving.

(08:23)
Dr. Tabatha: So there's three parts to prayer. There is taking the quiet time to listen to God, to talk to God, and to ask him for what you need, but to be grateful for what you already have, and then to trust him to see it through.

(08:40)
Dr. Tabatha: And science is backing this up. Everything that the Bible has said since the beginning of time, we know is the truth. And science is now coming along and supporting it and backing it up.

(08:53)
Dr. Tabatha: Science is proving that prayer shifts us out of fight or flight, sympathetic mode. It gets us into parasympathetic rest and repair. It lowers our blood pressure and our heart rate. It regulates our nervous system. It balances our hormones. It starts to heal our gut. It does all of these things because when we pray, we start releasing healing hormones in our brain and throughout our body. And they send messengers to our cells and our cells start to heal.

(09:27)
Dr. Tabatha: Now you got these new age gurus and all of these scientists trying to show that meditation heals people, reverses disease, gets rid of cancer. But the truth behind it is there is a higher power at work. So prayer is that powerful. They don't realize they're tapping into God, our Almighty creator. They don't realize they’re activating the Holy Spirit, but they are.

(10:11)
Dr. Tabatha: So your fight is not against your flesh. Your fight is not against that bagel and that coffee drink. It is against the spiritual side of you that wants to do the wrong thing. You have to fight against that and ask the Holy Spirit to take over — your will, not mine. God, your will, not mine.

(10:20)
Dr. Tabatha: When you let the Holy Spirit guide you, he will win that spiritual warfare. He will overcome those fleshly desires and those bad spiritual desires that want you to sin. They just start to fade away. And the more the Holy Spirit is alive and at work inside of you, the more righteous you will want to be.

(10:43)
Dr. Tabatha: And I used to not like that word righteous. It felt so, I don't know, so Catholic probably because I grew up Catholic, but it just sounded almost prideful. But I realized it just means right standing with God. You're doing what God wants you to do, what God's calling you to do — not because you are being shamed into it, but because the Holy Spirit makes you feel like you want to do it.

(11:13)
Dr. Tabatha: And so you become more righteous. You don't want to sin anymore. You don't want to treat your body like a garbage can. You want to glorify the body that God gave you and take the best care of it that you can. But that requires cultivating your relationship with the Holy Spirit, awakening him, asking him to work through you and speak for you and make decisions for you and for me.

(11:41)
Dr. Tabatha: That has just been so powerful. And I get it — you might be saying, how do you even do that? I have no idea where to even start. And if you would have said this to me four or five years ago, I would have said the same thing. I was afraid to read my Bible. I thought believing in Jesus and having Jesus as my Savior was just about eternity.

(12:07)
Dr. Tabatha: I didn't realize that it had anything to do with my day-to-day life, but I promise you it does. And once you really grasp this concept that Jesus wants you to have joy here and now — he said, I came and died for you so that you can live life to the fullest, like this life right now. That's what he says in the Gospel of John.

(12:33)
Dr. Tabatha: If you can start to wrap your brain around this idea that you and Jesus are partners, Jesus is your brother. He is walking alongside you. He's going to show you how to understand your body and get healthy and speak to him and tap into the power of the Holy Spirit. Everything will start shifting, I promise you.

(12:56)
Dr. Tabatha: That is literally what happened with me. And that is what I've helped countless women do in Fast to Faith and in my medical practice, which I also incorporate in there. So here's what I want you to just start today.

(13:09)
Dr. Tabatha: If you haven't gone into the Fast to Faith app, please download it. It is free. If you don't like it, you can remove it from your phone, but get in there and check it out because if you see the resources, then you'll realize there's so much opportunity that you're missing out on.

(13:29)
Dr. Tabatha: And try our five day free challenge if you haven't done it. It is called Empowered by Faith and it's a game changer. You could lose up to 5 pounds, but more importantly, you're going to start to learn how to meditate on Scripture. That is the key piece to moving you in this direction.

(13:55)
Dr. Tabatha: I don't want you to be afraid to open your Bible and read your Bible. It's not a history book. It's not something you have to memorize or read from front to back. The Bible is the living, nourishing word. You can start wherever you want.

(14:07)
Dr. Tabatha: So start reading Ephesians and see how that speaks to you — see what you get out of it and ask God, please speak to me. What is this scripture you're trying to say to me? What is this for me? And really start to write it down, whatever comes to your mind.

(14:27)
Dr. Tabatha: And the more that you do this — and I promise you, it only takes five minutes every morning — but the more that you do this, the more you are going to start to hear from God.

(14:31)
Dr. Tabatha: And then if you add fasting to it, fasting is like the quickest gateway to hear from God. You just get an energetic alignment. You stop listening to your flesh and start hearing from God. It is so powerful.

(14:52)
Dr. Tabatha: So if you're not doing that, start a little bit of fasting. I can gently teach you how to do that in the five day challenge, in the Fast to 40 Day program — or if you're already doing it, you might need to mix it up. You might be stuck in a rut in 16:8, or just eating two hours a day. Your body needs diversity. You need to change it up.

(15:17)
Dr. Tabatha: So get into a fasted state. Start meditating on Scripture. You will hear from God. Ask the Holy Spirit to work through you. Ask him to activate and help you make better choices during the day. Ask him to help you break up with sugar. The Holy Spirit is here to guide you. That's his whole job.

(15:35)
Dr. Tabatha: And then start drinking water with lemon or adding some organic apple cider vinegar. Focus on faith foods. Move your body because when you move, you release stuck energy. All those stuck, sinful, fleshly desires — that sinful nature — will start to go away and you'll start to focus on the right things.

(15:57)
Dr. Tabatha: And then practice gratitude. Thank God before it's done. Thank him as if he is going to fulfill it and make it happen. Because he will. He will keep his promises. He is that good of a God.

(16:06)
Dr. Tabatha: That is what the Old Testament is all about — stories of God showing up and providing and coming to the rescue and doing what he said he was going to do for people, even when they sinned, even when they didn't change, even when they didn't have the Holy Spirit guiding them.

(16:30)
Dr. Tabatha: So you have the Holy Spirit. You don't really have an excuse not to grow into your new identity. So this menopausal transition is making you a new creation.

(16:42)
Dr. Tabatha: We know that when you surrendered and gave your life to Jesus, that the old you died and a new you was born. That is part of the process of becoming a Christian — you are a new creation in Christ. But even more so, you're a new creation as you step into this new time in your life. And you are no longer in reproductive mode.

(17:07)
Dr. Tabatha: But now you're in like reprogramming transform mode. So thank him before it's done. Declare it like it's going to be done. Thank you that I am healthy. Thank you that I am at an amazing weight. Thank you that I fit into my clothes. Thank you that I'm so strong and have so much energy — and speak life over yourself once and for all. And ask the Holy Spirit to help you with that.

(17:34)
Dr. Tabatha: And then leave everything else up to God as you go through the rest of this week knowing that it is done. It is done.

(17:43)
Dr. Tabatha: I'll see you soon.
