STOP Feeding Your Family THIS? The Hidden Dangers in Everyday Food
(00:00)
Dr. Tabatha: When God wants you to pivot and add something new in your life or go in a different direction, He will equip you. He will give you the resources. It doesn't matter if you feel ready or not—He just helps you step into it, right? Welcome Kristen to the Fast to Faith podcast. I'm so excited for you to be here.
Kristen: I am so excited to be here—thanks for having me!
(00:40)
Dr. Tabatha: You are an amazing woman. You’ve been with me a long time, right? You were my patient back in the OBGYN days, and I just want to commend you for being such an amazing mom. That was always your focus—taking care of your children. I know your kids went through some things, and that really pushed you to get your health on track.
(01:13)
Kristen: Yeah, I ignored myself. My hormones were out of whack, my gut was a mess, I was angry, I was the yelling mom. I was exhausted and didn’t know what to do. I just poured everything into them, but I was falling apart—and it wasn’t good for any of us.
(01:52)
Dr. Tabatha: Let’s talk about gluten. Celiac disease is a regular word in your household now, right? Tell us what happened.
Kristen: Back in 2016, I was pregnant with my youngest. My son was having constant belly pain—we’d end up in the ER. His teacher even noticed. Eventually, he was diagnosed with Celiac after a scope. We tested the rest of the family—my daughter had it too.
(03:15)
Kristen: The gastroenterologist said, “Gluten needs to be gone now.” I was 39 weeks pregnant and crying in Meijer over Oreos because my 5-year-old son asked if he could ever eat one again. It felt like such a loss at the time.
(03:57)
Kristen: I was overwhelmed—rid the house of gluten, had a baby, and dealt with my postpartum anxiety all at once. My husband took 2 years to fully accept his diagnosis. But now, nearly 9 years later, my kids don’t even remember what McDonald’s tastes like.
(05:17)
Kristen: Their bodies have adjusted to eating real, whole foods. Honestly, I’m grateful this happened when they were young. They started their journey earlier than we did, and the damage wasn't as far along.
(06:27)
Dr. Tabatha: When your kid isn’t okay, you pour yourself into them. But it’s important to realize that when we ignore ourselves, we create a bigger mess that’s harder to clean up the older we get.
(07:34)
Kristen: My tipping point? I had severe upper right quadrant pain for nearly a year. I’d eat certain foods or have a drink and end up throwing up. I thought it was my gallbladder or liver.
(08:12)
Kristen: Labs came back normal, but I was still in pain. Then I came to see you, and we discovered it was leaky gut. That was the best investment I made—healing my gut changed everything.
(09:29)
Kristen: I realized I had been using food and alcohol to cope with stress. Once I eliminated my food sensitivities, got on supplements, and healed my gut, the physical and emotional transformation was incredible.
(10:42)
Dr. Tabatha: Your gut bacteria were throwing everything off. You weren’t absorbing food, and they were disrupting your liver and gallbladder. I’m proud of you for addressing the root cause instead of taking the surgical route.
(13:32)
Kristen: As a teacher, every summer my period would regulate, and then fall apart again once school started. I was tracking it—some months I was bleeding every two weeks. It all stemmed from stress.
(15:19)
Dr. Tabatha: You were great at your job, but your body was breaking down. High cortisol and no downtime were wrecking your health. You weren’t eating in peace or supporting your nervous system.
(15:56)
Kristen: I changed schools, and now I come home for lunch. Just 45 minutes of quiet time—worship music, Bible reading—totally resets me for the rest of the day.
(17:43)
Dr. Tabatha: That’s so powerful. Just stepping outside during the day can reset your nervous system and make a massive difference. It’s not about pushing harder—it’s about real healing.
(18:59)
Dr. Tabatha: And now, you're one of the first certified Fast to Faith coaches! How do you feel about stepping into this new role?
Kristen: I’m so excited. When I got the invite to your program, I was also invited to further my career in education. But I felt God saying “no” to that and a big “yes” to coaching.
(21:26)
Kristen: This journey has changed me—not just physically but spiritually. Supporting other women and watching them grow has been such a blessing. I finally feel like I’m walking in purpose.
(25:00)
Dr. Tabatha: You are such a great example for moms who are juggling everything. You’ve shown that healing starts when you put yourself first—and I hope women listening are ready to take that step too.
