The TRUTH About Women’s Weight Loss & Hormones (Shocking!)

(00:00)
Dr. Tabatha: The most beautiful gift you could ever give people you love is your health, hands down. There's nothing else. You cannot buy them anything better than you having your health and not being a burden on them. Well, welcome Terri to the Fast of Faith podcast. I'm so excited to talk to you.

Terri: Thank you, Dr. Tabatha. I am very excited to be here as well, especially since it's your birthday.

Dr. Tabatha: Yes, happy 50th to me! It's crazy to think... it's a huge milestone, right? But it really is just a number. I don’t feel hugely different or anything, but I do feel accomplished, like I made it into some kind of special club. And all of a sudden, I just don’t care about a lot of stuff anymore. So I’m really excited about the future, and you are like a shining example of a woman thriving over 50. So I’m excited to kick off this conversation with you, girl.

(01:15)
Dr. Tabatha: So my listeners need to hear from you because when you came to me, you were doing okay, but you just weren’t living your best life and feeling your greatest. What would you say is the number one reason you sought me out and decided to work with my team?

(01:54)
Terri: The fatigue that I was feeling and especially the weight loss that I could not achieve. I felt like I had been doing everything right. I felt like I had done all my research, and I was doing everything that had been recommended for especially for a woman my age, and I still had this nagging little bit of weight—menopausal weight—that had come on that I could not get rid of. I needed to heal my gut, and even though I had worked with functional practitioners, I had never had anyone who really specialized in that and specialized in balancing my hormones. I knew there was some work to do there, although I was already using bioidentical hormones and I was already doing some things to help my gut. I've said this before, but I felt like I had collected all the puzzle pieces but that they were turned face down, and I could not figure out how to put them together.

(02:31)
Dr. Tabatha: I love that! That is so right on. I hear that all the time: “I’m doing all the right things. Why am I not seeing the shift? Why am I stuck in the mud?” And so you’re saying, like, you had all these right puzzle pieces. You felt like you were working on your gut. You felt like you were getting your hormones back into balance—or at least getting some kind of hormone replacement—and dialing in your diet, but somehow the pieces weren’t coming together. You weren’t seeing the full picture, right?

(02:58)
Terri: Correct.

(03:05)
Dr. Tabatha: What was that turning point? Do you think it was just the Healthy Her program, where we finally brought in the food sensitivity pieces and the mindset pieces and the stress management pieces? Or what was there one thing, or was it a combination?

(03:43)
Terri: Well, it was definitely a combination of several things. Your program was the first one that I found that had the faith piece in it that I was looking for. I’ve been very health and wellness-minded for a long time, and in fact, I have lots of friends who come to me with situations because they know that I’ve done a lot for my health through nutrition, through lifestyle, and so I was already kind of coaching people. But I was looking for a way to integrate my faith as well. When I read your book, it resonated very deeply with me. I had already been intermittent fasting for almost four years when I came to you. I never really lost a significant amount of weight doing intermittent fasting, although I had been doing it all that time. So I look back on that and I think most people would have walked away because I did come to intermittent fasting thinking that would be a weight loss program for me, and weight loss was not one of the benefits I had. But I had a lot of other benefits, and one thing that intermittent fasting did for me was it cleared my mind, which made the faith piece better for me. And your program kind of just tied it all up with a really pretty bow and put it all together for me.

(04:58)
Dr. Tabatha: That’s amazing. So much to unpack there! You’re saying that the community aspect played a huge role, and how just being part of it made a difference for you, right?

(05:12)
Terri: Yes, absolutely. The community aspect has been incredible. I think that’s one of the things that really set this program apart for me. I’ve been on health journeys before, and I’ve read all the books, but there’s something different about being part of a community that is actively engaging with you, offering support, and where I can share my experience and learn from others. I wanted to bring that to the table, especially with my background in coaching. The support I got from the community helped me keep going, even when things felt tough.

(06:11)
Dr. Tabatha: I love hearing that! It really does make a huge difference when you have that built-in support. And you’ve been so active in sharing your journey with others, which I think has been powerful.

Terri: Yes, I thought I would maybe start a book study or small group Bible study using your book. But the coaching academy came together really quickly after that, and it was such an exciting next step for me.

(07:31)
Dr. Tabatha: Yes, and that’s one of the things that makes the Healthy Her program so powerful—it’s not just the testing but how it gives you personalized results based on your body’s needs. I think that’s one of the reasons why it works so well for so many women: it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Terri: Exactly. I understood the concept of testing and how to figure out what’s going on inside my body before, but actually knowing what bacteria was affecting me and how to target it made all the difference.

(09:23)
Dr. Tabatha: It’s amazing to see the impact this program has on women’s lives. It’s not just about physical health—it’s about giving women back hope and possibilities for their future. And you’ve experienced that firsthand, right?

Terri: Absolutely. There’s so much potential in women when they aren’t just surviving, when they have the energy and clarity to go out and live their purpose. Now I’m helping other women feel better, and it’s been so rewarding.

(10:35)
Dr. Tabatha: That’s so incredible. Now, let’s talk about the importance of mindset. You mentioned how much you’ve learned about the mind-body connection and how critical it is in healing. Can you elaborate on that?

Terri: Yes! What I’ve learned is that you can do all the right things—eating right, exercising, taking the right supplements—but if your mindset isn’t aligned, it’s hard to make real progress. The way we think about our bodies, our health, and even our worth really influences how we heal. And for me, integrating faith into that was key.

(12:51)
Dr. Tabatha: That’s such a powerful point. When we nourish our soul, our bodies follow. It’s all connected. And speaking of that connection, many women in the program have shared how much they’ve grown spiritually as well as physically.

Terri: It’s been transformative. Even as I’m healing physically, the growth I’ve seen in my spiritual life has been just as important. The practices we use, like journaling and prayer, have helped me connect with God and with myself in deeper ways.

(14:04)
Dr. Tabatha: That’s so true. Healing isn’t just about what we eat or how we move—it’s about addressing all aspects of our lives: body, mind, and spirit. And women are learning that through the program.

Terri: Yes, exactly! The whole approach—how we treat our bodies, how we treat our minds, and how we treat our souls—has been life-changing.

(16:23)
Dr. Tabatha: Now, let’s talk a bit about conventional medicine and the challenges that women face when it comes to getting the care they need. You’ve had your experiences with that, right?

Terri: Yes, I’ve experienced a lot of frustration with conventional medicine. A lot of times, doctors just treat the symptoms instead of getting to the root cause. And there’s such a disconnect between what women are told they should do for their health and what’s actually right for their bodies.

(20:05)
Dr. Tabatha: And that’s why understanding functional medicine is so important, especially when it comes to women’s health. Having that deeper understanding of things like your microbiome, your hormones, your thyroid—it all plays a huge role in how you feel.

Terri: Absolutely! Understanding that really helped me feel empowered in my own health journey. I didn’t have to just accept the diagnosis or the standard treatments I was being offered.

(22:58)
Dr. Tabatha: I couldn’t agree more. And now you’re able to help other women understand that too.

Terri: Yes, I’m so passionate about sharing this knowledge with others. I think a lot of women feel lost when it comes to their health. But once they understand the root causes of their struggles, they can make real, lasting changes.

(25:17)
Dr. Tabatha: It’s so true. And I’m so proud of you for taking the next step and becoming a coach. You’re going to help so many women reclaim their health and their lives.

Terri: Thank you! I’m excited to be part of this amazing movement, helping women feel better, live better, and understand their bodies better.

(27:49)
Dr. Tabatha: Now, I know we’ve covered a lot, but if there’s one thing you would say to a woman out there who’s struggling with her health and feels like nothing is working, what would it be?

Terri: I would tell her to keep going. Don’t give up. You’re not broken. Your body is trying to tell you something, and once you understand it, things will start to fall into place. And remember, there’s always hope.

(30:08)
Dr. Tabatha: That’s such an encouraging message. Thank you, Terri, for sharing your story and for all you’re doing to help other women.

Terri: Thank you so much for having me, Dr. Tabatha. It’s been such an honor to be here.

(32:28)
Dr. Tabatha: I’m so proud of you. And to all the women listening, remember—you have the power to take control of your health and your life. Never underestimate the power of small changes and the support of a community that truly cares.

(33:35)
Dr. Tabatha: So, thank you again, Terri. And to everyone listening, make sure to take action today, whether that’s getting the book, joining the program, or just starting to make small changes. You can do this!

Terri: Absolutely. And remember, it’s not about perfection, it’s about progress.

(34:39)
Dr. Tabatha: Well said! Thank you so much, Terri. I can’t wait to see everything you do in the future.
